Thing # 23-Wrapping Up

Hooray!!!! It's over!!! I can't really say I didn't have fun. I did learn some things I probably never would have if not for this challenge. Will I stick with it? I'm not sure how much time I will be spending on here. I like the idea of updating my pictures and sharing them with everyone.
I will say it was fun doing this challenge with everyone at my branch. We were always offering help and advice to eachother. I look foward to the next challenge!!!

Thing # 22- ListenNJ

Put a real book in front of me anytime!! I understand the concept of listenNJ and think it's a great idea for those who are into it...but not me! I enjoy being able to browse the shelves and handle the books...after all...thats one of the reasons I work where I do. The love of books!!

Thing #21- Podcasts

Well...I registered for podcast.com...but I must say I really have no interest in sitting and listening to these things. I don't spend that much time in front of a computer. I got no hits on some subjects and others that were just too long...count me out of this one...I won't be using it.

Thing # 19 Web 2.0 Awards

This one was great. I signed up for eventful because we are always looking for fun and different things to do with the family. It also shows times and dates for local borough council meetings &board of ed meetings . Great place to be! I liked Pandora also and registered for this one. You let them know songs you like and they will create your own station!! Cool stuff!!! I think there is unlimited potential for this site, it just offers so much.

Thing #18 Web Apps

Ok...so I got through another one!!! Logging in and adding my name has become pretty simple at this time! Please challenge me!!!
It is a cool site with lots of potential for meetings and note taking. I don't really have anything going on at this time that would warrent the use of this but maybe I will in the future.

Thing #17- Sandbox

This one was another fun one. I added 2 things to the favorites, changed fonts and colors. I also added a link to my blog. It was pretty easy figuring out the last step in adding this to my blog. Potential??? I'm not sure but if anyone has some ideas let me know.

Thing #16- Learn About Wikis

I enjoyed the video presentation and understood what it was all about but when I went onto the exercise I was a bit lost. I did like the recommended list of books as it can help with books by mail. I also thought Nancy Pearls picks had some good info. I did visit many of the public libraries although I did not see OCL there. I especially enjoyed the Albany County Public Library Staff Wiki. It is a great way for all employees to keep up with all that is going on. I think it could be a great asset to us. The only downside was all the clicking.....I was a bit lost on the history tab when I visited the Ocean County Library's article on Wikipedia.

Thing #15-On Library2.0& Web 2.0

This one created alot of confusion for me. I felt like I was walking in circles trying to figure it out.No matter how many times I read all the info on this one it just wasn't sinking in. I guess it's like a web that gets bigger with all the info that is put together. From what I got out of it...it seems one can gather info from all sorts of avenues using Library 2.0. I guess I would have to spend lots of time learning all there is to learn to benefit from it.

I can't believe I did it!!!! Not only did I get to put my own survey on my blog but I also got my scrolling news ticker!!! This is getting to be alot of fun. Hooray for technology:)

Thing #14 : Getting Not-So-Technical With Technorati

HELP!!! I feel like I have serious brain overload! I checked out some of the blogs and they seemed a bit overloaded for me! I was excited to find out about "pings" and a "widgets". It is not something from Harry Potter as I suspected ! I am working on trying to add a horizontal news ticket widget to my blog..stay tuned

Well, I just had a patron come in and she told me about a book she just finished reading.
I looked it up on our catalog and it didn't give any info. SO...I went to WorldCat and what do you think I saw????? Tons of info about it. My decision is made now. Thumbs Up:)

Thing #13 Tagging, Folksonomies & Social Bookmarking in del.icio.us

Wow!! So much to take in. I can see how this would help alot of people to keep organized but it seems like so much. I guess being a little more savy with the computer would help, but I myself don't use it that often that I would feel the need to "tag". I did like the idea of all the summer reading lists being at my fingertips.

Thing #12 WorldCat

I liked WorldCat as it was very easy to navigate. I also liked that you know immediately the locations where you can find your item. You get reviews too which helps me when I am looking to read something new and different. Thumbs UP!!!

Thing #12-Netlibrary&Worldcat

I liked Netlibrary and found it easy to register and navigate through the whole process. I would tell patrons about how easy this is and advise them to register. The only downside was there didn't seem to be a whole lot of ebooks in the catagorys I liked....gardening, child care...
I'm sure in time more will be added. I will check from time to time.

Thing #10- Technology

I liked the New York Times Tech page. They have reviews for cameras,computers,phones and even books. This might be easier for a patron than consumer report.

Topix...I liked this site as it reminds me of Fox News which is one of my favorites. It adds more local news which is also good. Lots of things to look at.
Syndic8..This did not do it for me at all. I had trouble navigating this site and don't see myself using it too much.
Again I liked Technorati..lots of interesting stuff on there. I will use this often.

Am I having fun yet? I'm not sure...it isn't easy picking this stuff up when your not too computer savy!!
I didn't have too much luck at first finding feeds but once I got down to business and thought about the kinds of places I most often visit it got easier.

7 1/2 habits

The easiest habit for me would be the 1st one which is begin with the end in mind. I can see how I like for things to turnout or to look like before I start.
The hardest one would be habit #6. Technology is not the easiest to pick up on. It can be a bit intimidating too.
